- Star Birth is a collaborative photograph by Gayle & John Reichelt based on a theme of explaining the life cycle of stars and the nature of other wonders in our skies by combining images. Star Birth combines a panoramic star photo by John with a photograph of a model by Gayle. The combined image conveys the reality that stars are not eternal; stars are born, they age and they die. Star birth occurs in glowing clouds in space, out of which a cluster of baby stars will emerge. Two such star clouds appear in this image: the Trifid Nebula and the Lagoon Nebula.
