Deep Sky Image on Face Mounted Acrylic
41cm x 60cm
(c) John Reichelt 2015
When you look up at the stars at night, almost everything you can see belongs to our own galaxy...and the object shown here is another galaxy just like ours.
The glowing light shown here is the combined light from millions of stars, too far away to see the individual stars. There are millions of these galaxies as well. This particular galaxy is in the constellation Sculptor.
John Reichelt is a scientist with a PhD in Microbiology and an interest in astrophotography as a hobby.

Face Mounted Acrylic is a frameless presentation of photos printed on best quality metallic photo paper, face mounted or bonded to the rear of a 6mm thick high quality transparent acrylic panel using archival transparent film, and 2mm black acrylic glued to the back of the photo for protection. It is considered the Rolls Royce of photo presentation and is sometimes referred to as “float frames” as they sit off the wall and appear to be suspended in mid air about an inch from the wall.
