Many of my images use distortion. Artists sometimes use distortion or abstraction to convey feelings and a particular mood, because often things can be expressed more successfully in forms that are personalised, rather than through the use of realism. Distortion is a change of a reality’s depiction. Through distortion, reality is changed into creativity.
Abstract art can be viewed as the visual arts equivalent of instrumental music, if instrumental music is considered as abstract song. Music is able to be codified in the form of a score consisting of notes, keys and times. Abstract art is likewise able to be codified as a composition comprised of texture, form, line, colour, value, shape and movement.
Abstract art and instrumental music both impact on all who experience them. However, both have more precise, less abstract meaning for highly trained artists and musicians who can recognise and decipher their respective codified elements. This leads to a variable reception to abstract art and instrumental music, depending on the individual tastes of the viewer or listener.
